Although we try to have a rhythm to our day, we are fairly unstructured in our schooling. This year we hung the alphabet from strings and hung them in our dining room. We started with printed letters and added cursive since the kids were asking a lot and were very interested. Each day, at least once, the kids find the letters they are looking for or explore them in interesting ways. We talk about how the cursive letters connect, that is why there are tails for them. Of course, I was corrected that one of my letters did not have its tail. That happens often. A perfect opportunity to show that we are not perfect even after years of practice.
We invested in Sonrisas Spanish School Curriculum this year. We have done several lessons and really enjoy it. Each lesson offers stories, music and crafts to go with it so it is being learned in a variety of ways. So far we are enjoying it. After some big changes to our daily routine, we are ready to get back into it and move forward. We hope to involve ourselves with families who wish to learn English as we wish to learn Spanish.
